AFK — Away

Your screen, covered. Your AI agent, still running.

Works behind anything you run — Claude Code · Cursor · Terminal · ffmpeg · Xcode · training scripts

It's still running. You shouldn't have to babysit it.

Close the lid and it sleeps. Leave it open and anyone walking by reads your screen. So you sit there glancing at a terminal, waiting for an agent or a render or a build to finish.

AFK lets you actually walk away — and tells you when it's done.

1

Pick what to wait on

Nothing, a timer, or a process — type python, ffmpeg, your build. AFK watches it.

2

Go AFK ⌃⌘A

A calm cover fills every display so no one can read it. Your work keeps running behind it; the Mac won't sleep.

3

Get pinged when it's done

The second your process exits or the timer ends, AFK notifies you with a sound. Press any key, you're back.

Stays awake

A power assertion keeps your Mac (and optionally the screen) running while you're gone — no idle sleep killing your task.

Private cover

One hotkey throws a full-screen cover over every display. Shoulder-surfers see nothing; your work runs untouched behind it.

Ping when done

Watch a process or set a timer. AFK pings you the second it finishes — stop babysitting your agent or render.

Sound familiar?

A keypress for the moment you've felt

Your Claude Code agent has 20 more minutes of work — and you want coffee.

Go AFK with “watch node.” Walk away. Get pinged the second it finishes.

You're rendering in a café and the person behind you keeps glancing over.

One key. The screen goes private. The render never pauses. Press any key when you're back.

You closed the lid to move tables — and the build had stopped when you returned.

AFK holds the Mac awake so the build keeps going, lid open, screen hidden.

Why pay for it

The free tools each do one piece

Staying awake, hiding the screen, knowing when it's done — AFK is the one app that does all three, plus the part none of them do: ping you when your task finishes.

Comparison is our honest take; other apps are great at what they do. AFK just combines it — and adds the ping.

FAQ

Good questions

What exactly does AFK do?

It keeps your Mac awake while you step away, covers every display with a private screen so no one can read your work, and notifies you when a chosen process exits or a timer ends. Everything runs locally on your Mac.

Is there a free trial?

No trial — it's a $9 one-time purchase. If it doesn't work for you, email us within 7 days for a full refund.

Is the cover real security?

No. It hides your screen from casual glances (shoulder-surfing) and can be dismissed without a password. For real protection, lock your Mac. AFK is convenience, not a security control.

Does AFK record or upload my screen?

Never. Nothing about your screen, files, or processes leaves your Mac. The only network call is validating your license key with Polar.

Does it work with the lid closed?

It prevents idle sleep, so your task keeps running while you're away with the lid open and the screen covered. For lid-closed running, use an external display or power (standard macOS clamshell).

How do I get it after buying?

Polar emails you a license key right after purchase. Download AFK, open it, paste the key, and you're unlocked. One key works on your Macs.

Is it a subscription? Do I get updates?

No subscription — $9 once, forever, with future updates included.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — if AFK doesn't work for you or you change your mind within 7 days, email nextactionclubkr@gmail.com for a full refund.
