What exactly does AFK do?

Is there a free trial?

Is the cover real security?
No. It hides your screen from casual glances (shoulder-surfing) and can be dismissed without a password. For real protection, lock your Mac. AFK is convenience, not a security control.
Does AFK record or upload my screen?
Never. Nothing about your screen, files, or processes leaves your Mac. The only network call is validating your license key with Polar.
Does it work with the lid closed?
It prevents idle sleep, so your task keeps running while you're away with the lid open and the screen covered. For lid-closed running, use an external display or power (standard macOS clamshell).
